At Fastned you will actively contribute to accelerating the transition to electric mobility. As Interim Head of Data & Insights, you will step in at a pivotal moment to ensure the team stays focused, motivated, and on track while we recruit a permanent leader. Fastned is a pioneer in a completely new industry, and this is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in a team that is at the heart of how we make decisions across Europe.
Our current Head of Data & Insights is leaving the company. We are actively recruiting a permanent successor, and in the meantime we are looking for an experienced interim leader to ensure continuity, maintain team momentum, and set the new leader up for success from day one.
The Data & Insights team is a multidisciplinary central function of ~8 people spanning Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Science & AI. The team's purpose is: we empower business owners to make better-informed and faster decisions thanks to data.
This is not a transformation or restructuring assignment. What we need is a steady hand, a people-first approach, and the seniority to engage credibly with Fastned's leadership while keeping the team motivated and growing, in a period where Fastned’s leadership is going through exciting changes and where the Analytics demand is growing exponentially, as we try to clarify our objectives and hold ourselves accountable to deliver them.
Start date: Ideally mid-July 2026, with a one-month handover period alongside the current Head of Data & Insights.
Duration: ±6 months.
Commitment: Minimum 50% of your time.
Location: Amsterdam, minimum 3 days per week on-site.
Team continuity & people leadership
Ensure a smooth transition from the current manager through a structured one-month handover
Motivate, support and coach existing team members, maintaining a positive and high-performing team culture throughout the transition period
Actively support the personal development and growth of each team member, maintaining the feedback and development routines already in place
Help the two most recent joiners get fully up to speed on the team's ways of working, stakeholders and strategic priorities
Onboarding new joiners
Help onboard 2 new team members (Data Analysts) who are currently being recruited, ensuring they integrate well into the team and hit the ground running
Strategy & leadership alignment
Build strong working relationships with Fastned's COO, Head of Centre of Organisational Excellence, and the People team to stay aligned on priorities and to be able to adapt the team's approach as challenges arise
Represent Data & Insights in cross-functional leadership forums and align the team's strategy and vision with the rest of Fastned's leadership
Maintain and refine the team's current roadmap and strategic pillars, tailoring priorities where needed in close collaboration with senior stakeholders
Support both the leadership team and data analysts during our annual objective setting exercise to ensure relevant metrics and targets are defined and well tracked.
Recruitment & handover
Actively participate in the recruitment process for the permanent Head of Data & Insights, contributing to interviews and candidate assessment
Prepare and deliver a thorough handover to the incoming permanent leader, ensuring they can hit the ground running from day one
You are an experienced data leader who is comfortable stepping into an interim role with confidence and empathy. You are as much at home coaching a mid-level data analyst as you are presenting a data strategy to a COO. Specifically, you bring:
At least 6 years of people management experience, ideally having led multidisciplinary data teams
Prior experience in interim or transitional leadership roles. You know how to make an impact quickly without overturning what works
A background spanning Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and/or Data Science, with enough breadth to credibly lead all three pillars. Data Analytics / Analytics Engineering is non negotiable.
Strong people skills. You are a natural coach who can motivate a team through a period of uncertainty
The seniority and communication skills to engage effectively with Director and Board-level stakeholders
(Nice-to-have) Prior experience in a similarly fast-paced scale-up environment.
