Monumental is automating on-site construction with cutting-edge robotics and software. Our mission is to redefine construction through software and robots. We aim for a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labor.
We’re a growing team (about 100 team members) of mostly engineers and technicians, coming from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, Meta and 1X. It’s still the early days of building the company, and this is a unique opportunity to be an early employee in a high-growth, high-ambition startup environment. From Day 1, you’ll be able to work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.

About You and This Role
We're looking for a People Projects hire to join our Exec Ops team and own the human side of how Monumental runs day-to-day.
Monumental is a unique company in that we're solving the problem of on-site construction with a vertically integrated offering. We're a hard tech company doing real R&D, financed through venture funding. We manufacture our hardware in-house, manage a complex supply chain, and deploy masonry robots to construction sites across the Netherlands and the UK.
This is a generalist role with a deliberate tilt. You'll work closely with our CEO on the projects, conversations, and quiet upkeep that keep the people side of a fast-growing company healthy. Over time, the goal is for someone in this seat to grow into senior people leadership at Monumental.
We've already covered our day-to-day people operations. We're not hiring you to duplicate that work - we're hiring for something harder to define: someone who's genuinely curious about what everyone in the company is building, who runs 1:1s people look forward to, who notices when something is off two weeks before it becomes a problem, and who can pick up the people-related project nobody has owned yet and just close it out.
We believe the most damaging mistakes happen when companies try to flatten messy human reality into clean, legible systems. We want light process in service of doing better work - not policy for its own sake. You're at home in the local detail, not in the org chart.
What You Might Be Working On
People projects without an obvious owner. The work that needs doing but doesn't have a home yet - onboarding redesign, improving the buddy system, ad-hoc work whenever something new comes up. You pick it up, figure it out, and close it.
Performance cycles, operationally. Once the structure is set, you make it run. Comms, scorecards, tracking, follow-up.
Soft 1:1s with the people who need them. Not administration - the kind of conversation people quietly look forward to. You'll walk away knowing what they're building, what's blocking them, and who else in the company could help.
Candidate experience and employer brand. Helping shape how Monumental shows up to people considering joining - the touch points, the storytelling, the conditions for great candidates to say yes. (You won't run the hiring funnel, but you'll improve everything around it.)
Talent spotting in practice. Noticing the operator who could be doing something bigger. Surfacing names in conversation. Helping build "spot great people" into how the company works.
Office and event culture. Supporting Lucie (Office/Event Manager) on the things that build real face-to-face trust - not perks for their own sake, just the conditions for people to know each other well.
Writing. Internal comms when something needs to land well. You write clearly and fast.
What we're looking for
You have 1-3 years of experience in a startup, VC, or similarly fast-moving environment - ideally as the person who ended up doing the people stuff.
A generalist with strong people instincts. You read a room. You notice when someone is off. You can have a real conversation with anyone in the company.
A bias to action and a whatever-it-takes mindset. You don't wait for permission, and you don't decide something is beneath you.
Suspicious of policy as a default mode. You don't think the answer to most problems is a new rule.
A strong, direct writer. Clear, no filler.
You reach for AI tools by default. Not because it's trendy, but because you don't want to spend three days on something you can solve in an afternoon.
A Day 1 culture fit. Curious about the technical work, comfortable in a hardtech environment, energised by being around people who care.
Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus but not required.
