Job Responsibility:
Within the Factory IT team, a set of internally developed web applications ("eqpweb") is used daily by operators, engineers, and IT professionals to support factory operations. These applications are currently based on an outdated and unsupported PHP platform and require modernization to ensure long-term maintainability, security, and scalability.
During this internship, you will analyze the existing environment, gather stakeholder requirements, and define a future-proof solution architecture. Depending on the duration and progress of the internship, implementation activities may also be included.
- Analyze the existing eqpweb application, including its architecture, technologies, integrations, and deployment environment.
- Investigate how operators, engineers, and IT teams use the application in daily factory operations and identify key business requirements.
- Identify functional, technical, operational, and maintainability limitations of the current solution.
- Define requirements for a future-state platform, including features to retain, improve, redesign, or retire.
- Research and evaluate suitable technologies, frameworks, architectures, and deployment approaches for modernization.
- Document findings, requirements, architectural decisions, and recommendations for implementation.
- Collaborate with Factory IT, end-users, and other stakeholders to ensure the proposed solution aligns with operational needs.
- Optionally contribute to the implementation or proof-of-concept development of the proposed solution.
Project Deliverables
- Assessment report of the current eqpweb environment and supporting infrastructure.
- Stakeholder and user requirements analysis.
- Technical comparison of alternative technology stacks and solution architectures.
- Future-state architecture proposal including deployment and maintenance considerations.
- Proof-of-concept or implementation prototype (depending on internship scope and duration).
- Final report and presentation summarizing findings, recommendations, and next steps.
